2016 SUMMER STUDENT Documentary workshop

Workshop students were commissioned by the Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce to film a bicycle decorating contest for Cloverdale July 4th Festivities. Students filmed for two days and finished post on the project in early fall.

On Friday, June 17th, the Alexander Valley Film Society hosted more than 20 students from every area high school for a full-day Documentary Workshop with Bay Area filmmakers. Students spent the morning focused on micro documentaries with Edward Seaton (CAMP GROUNDED), brainstormed story with Brad Marshland (ON HER OWN), and then wrapped up with Erica Milsom (SNOW DAY) on how to get your story started.

Jr. Film Society Member Corey Sceales documented the day along with Healdsburg Social's Hannah Gart, whose extraordinary work is shared with us below. Thank you to every adult volunteer, filmmaker, Board Member, and parent/guardian who helped make this happen.

The workshop was made possible, in part, by a Sonoma County Summer Arts Youth Program Grant (SAYPG), County of Sonoma/Creative Sonoma and VANTREO Insurance Brokerage.
