In the fall of 2014, a group of like-minded community members rallied around a new idea: a local film society that would focus on educational outreach, a screening or two during the year, and maybe even a film festival. We had a radical notion that movies could serve as a point of connection and growth. Five short years later, the Alexander Valley Film Society serves more than 5,000 people and 1,000 students in Northern Sonoma County through year-round educational and cultural programming. In 2019, we will celebrate our fifth annual film festival. We have screened more than 250 films, logged thousands of volunteer hours, introduced dozens of filmmakers to our patrons in Sonoma County, and even created a significant economic impact in our region.
Our mission is to strengthen the community through film, and we have a lot of fun doing it. Join us!
