AVFS Monthly Screening Series Starts with a Bang

On Thursday, May 14th, over 50 patrons joined us for the kick off of our monthly screening series at The Raven Film Center in Healdsburg. Guests supped on takeout Chinese food from Yinkeng in Windsor and then took in The Search for General Tso, a documentary exploring the origins of the ubiquitous dish.

Before the program began, we heard from two local students on the impact the Film Society has had in their lives. "I always wanted to be an actress, and my junior year I just got stuck," said Allison, a junior at Cloverdale High School. "Then I met [the Film Society] and my eyes were opened; I saw that I could really do this."

Dylan, a Senior at Healdsburg High School had this to say:

I've been doing video since the 7th grade. I knew it was what I wanted to do. When the Film Society brought Adam Burke into our class, it was so cool to meet and talk to someone doing it in the real world. And it was nice to have someone come from outside Sonoma County.

The Alexander Valley Film Society is proudly connecting our community with access to diverse films and filmmakers. We'll see you at The Clover Theater for our next screening on (pencil the date) June 18th!
